Resins are a viscous, material that hardens under certain conditions and exists in both natural and synthetic forms. The natural type is available in plants, and the synthetic type is produced or synthesized in laboratories or factories through various chemical processes.

The most famous natural species of these resins is pine sap, which is released by causing damage or fire in the trunk of the tree. It is a light brown to dark brown substance with a pungent odor.

Resins are usually insoluble in water and do not react, but react with alcohols and dissolve in them. Therefore, due to these characteristics, it can be boldly acknowledged that resin is a very widely used and ancient substance that has been used by humans for thousands of years.

Properties such as strength, thin film in some coatings, resistance to light and moisture, chemical agents and high adhesion, have made resins to be used as a supplement in many different industries.

One of the most widely used applications of resins is in the paint industry, which is the cause of the adhesion of paint due to its presence in paint. It can also increase the quality of paint in increasing properties such as optical and chemical resistance and high strength. Other applications include the use of various adhesives in the polymer and plastic industries, as well as its widespread use in resistant coatings and flooring. The application of this material in electrical and electronic industries, aerospace and construction is also significant.
