Orthosilene

Orthosilene or 1 and 2 dimethyl benzene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a benzene ring and two methyl groups attached to it, which is mainly extracted from crude oil and is used as a raw material for the production of phthalic anhydride as well as for the production of polyvinyl chloride. It is also used in the production of various xylene isomers, the production of waterproof coatings, to reduce viscosity in the production of adhesives, as a solvent in the production of rubber, and so on.
