Alcohols and Ethers

Alcohols and ethers are both types of organic compounds, both of which are divided into three types, the first, the second, and the third, and are able to dissolve in any proportion in the water. In the following, we will introduce alcohols and ethers separately.

Alcohols or other names, alkanols, are very useful substances that have many uses in industry and everyday life. Alcohols have the hydroxide group (OH) and it can be said that their structure is R-OH, which R represents the reduced alkyl or alkyl group. In fact, alcohols are a type of hydrocarbon whose chain can be open or circular, in which there are one or more hydroxyl groups, and there may be halogens in their chain.

The general formula shows the alcohols that have the group m hydroxide or OH as CnH2n + 2Om. In fact, the addition of the hydroxide group does not affect the composition of alcohols in the number of hydrogen, and only increases the number of oxygen added to the amount of hydroxide.

Ethers are a type of organic compound formed by the bonding of two groups of alkyl or aromatic to oxygen. The general structure of ether can be represented as R-O-R ‘, where R and R’ can be both an alkyl group or both an aromatic group or one alkyl and the other aromatic. If the two oxygen-linked groups are equal, the ether is symmetrical, and if they are different, the ether is asymmetric.
